Gennarino, orfanello napoletano in età scolare, vive insieme alla madre adottiva, Angela Lori, già famosa cantante e ora in situazione di precarietà tanto nella salute quanto per finanze. I due, accompagnati dal cane Barone, sbarcano il lunario come cantanti ambulanti, insieme alla modesta compagnia di Leopoldo. Quando Angela si trova costretta a letto, Gennarino pensa di potere radunare i soldi indispensabili per le cure entrando nella banda di topi d'auto dell'usuraio e ricettatore Don Raimondo. Nel corso di un'azione, inseguiti dalla polizia, Gennarino e Mario fuggono su delle pericolose impalcature. Mario ne cade e Gennarino, visto litigare con lo stesso, viene tradotto in riformatorio come assassino....
Gennaro orphan Neapolitan school age, lives with his adoptive mother, Angela Lori, already famous singer and now in difficult circumstances such as in health to finances.
